I’m Marcus, a UK technology consultant, photographer, occasional traveller and, more recently, published author. I write British urban fantasy under the pen name M.P. Moorland.
After years of working with complex IT systems, I decided to invent some even less reliable ones. The result is Code & Stone, a series about ancient magic, cosmic horrors and the peculiar things lurking beneath modern London. My debut novel, Phantom Signals, was published in August 2026.
When I’m not writing fiction, I’m usually taking photographs, travelling around Britain in a campervan, experimenting with technology or finding new ways to avoid doing something useful.
I’ve been writing on Medium since 2020, mostly about photography, technology and the occasional adventure. These days, I also write about writing, independent publishing and becoming a novelist in my fifties.
You can find my fiction at codeandstone.com, where I write as M.P. Moorland.
