Added one of my photo’s to a gallery show

I’ve just uploaded one of more recent iPhone photo’s to depixtions.com for inclusion in camera phone gallery on the 13th March in Orlando Florida which is a shame as I would of loved to attend! I’ve looked at a few on the website and there’s some really original pieces of work there.

Earning some Kama

My photo will be printed and displayed in the gallery, then sold (Hopefully!) with all proceeds going to the New Hope For Kids charity.

Enter yourself.

If you use Instagram (or Camera+) on your iPhone you can submit your favorite photo also (1 day left though!) The photo has to be taken on a smart phone, in square format and only use your smartphone software to enhance the photo. Full details can be found on the depixtions website.

My entry.

I went for this recent photo and titled it ‘Alien Bubbles’ I hope it will stand out a little from the other entries and that it may even make people stop and have a good look at it as they  try and work out what it is. (It’s a paper weight!)

Photo of the day – Alien air

For some reason I really like this photo I took this morning, it’s a paper weight and was just sitting in the hotel foyer on a lit shelf. It looks lovely and alien to me!

I really like the way it appears to be floating, almost like the trapped alien air is lifting it from the shelf….

Home safe and sound

Well our 2 night break in the Peak District has come to an end and were both nicely relaxed and already looking forward to the weeks break we have planned in a few weeks time! I was armed with my trusty iPhone and captured a few photo’s mainly as we walked through Dovedale up to Milldale.

You can find all the photo’s here.

Our 2011 in 3 minutes!

Originally I was going to get all 2011 photo’s (Mine and Louises) and just stitch them all together in a movie, but a few problems arose.

We take far too many photo’s of the dog and a load of duplicates looking for that really good shot!

So after a little pruning, I present 2011 from the Putterill, Wild and Platt household!

Disclaimer – Sometimes I come across something really good on the internet and I just have to copy it! So for the record the above was not my idea! But thanks to whoever did create one of these 1st!

Photo of the day – My Victorian London photo

This photo was created completely on my iPhone, the picture, the edits and the processing. After seeing some adverts for the new Sherlock Holmes movie I wanted to see if I could create a scene that looked like it was created in Victorian times. I guess the biggest give away is the double decker bus on Westminster bridge if you look carefully enough!

Photo of the day – Platform 5 London Waterloo

A cold Friday morning at London Waterloo is hardly where I thought I be taking a photo today, but as we pulled into the station (a journey I make nearly everyday) I was struck by the colours, lights and shapes that I saw from the carriage.

Having to walk the wrong way down the platform caused a few stares from people as I made my way down towards the end of the platform to capture this instagram snap.

Have a great Friday!

Post processing digital photos? Should I stop?

I took a quick snapshot on the home with my iPhone using Instagram then edited the original with Snapseed.

Which do you prefer?

I like the dramatic lighting of the Snapseed (far right) version but wonder if it’s looks just a little (or a lot!) over processed?

Photography for me is about creating a statement and post processing is a good way to enhance a rather plain picture, but I do worry about relying on it a little too much at times. I vow to take a few more unprocessed pictures and see if I can create the same sort of statement with classic photographer skills!
