IFTTT – A cool automation website for a geek like you!

Apologies for any none geeks out there, todays blog is about a very geeky website ifttt IF That Then That a great automation tool that lets you achieve some really cool things with your online life.

The premise is fairly simple, If x happens then do y, or If that then that if you’d prefer. You can apply it to numerous websites to perform all sorts of actions like;

  • IF your tagged in a Facebook photo THEN back it up to Dropbox.
  • IF your followed in Twitter THEN send a welcome message back.
  • IF it’s going to rain tomorrow THEN send me an email.
  • IF I upload a new Instagram photo THEN download the picture to Evernote.
  • IF I change my facbook profile picture THEN update my twitter picture also.

 

Hopefully you get the idea, automate lots of things, just set and forget! It’s really easy to set up, through some simple questions and as every website is logged in using OAuth it’s pretty secure, so no worries about your passwords being stored by a 3rd party.
