No Comments Chrome OS on my eeePC 701
Just spent an hour installing ChromeOS onto my old eeePC 701 and Im pleased to say it works pretty well. All the hardware works fine, sound, WiFi, fan!
I Initially got it running from a USB stick, then installed it directly onto the SSD of the netbook. Some great instructions and the downloads needed can be found HERE
I’ve been itching to try some full cloud computing for a while and as a first attempt ChromeOS looks pretty decent, ok it’s a little slow at times but it’s no where near finished, using the Chrome browser works pretty well and I had no real problems accessing any sites including last.fm to stream some tunes in the background. Flash video on the eeePC isn’t great, but it wasn’t that great when I had Linux or XP installed on it!
Using Google products is what I want as my Mail, Calendar and Reader are the google apps I use daily. (IMAP desktop connection) add to the mix online Toodledo Task manager, GoogleDocs and Google News it all adds upto a light OS for webwork.
Im looking forward to the next build and to see how it improves.
